Course reflection:
This assignment is an example of the work that I have done to prepare myself for speeches in my communication class. It shows how much effort goes into creating a speech and the detail that one must pay attention to in order to make a speech really effective. By completing this assignment, I have learned how to plan a public
speech and what to focus on in order to have my audience benefit from what I have to say. This assignment demonstrates that I have learned the skills necessary to analyze the way that I speak in public so as to improve how I introduce my arguments and capture my audience. From this assignment I have learned what it means to analyze my audience and how to appeal to their needs. I have become a better speaker because of this class.
I can apply what I have learned in this class to many areas of my life. I plan on becoming a translator in the future. With the skills that I have learned in this class (specifically paying attention to what I say) I can speak more eloquently and clearly. I can apply this skill to my future career by paying better attention to what I and others say. I can also apply the things that I have learned in this class to my everyday life. Each day, it is necessary that I communicate with others in order to express my needs, desires, and ideas. The skill of expressing myself in a clear voice (which I have learned in this class) will assist me when I speak with my peers because I will be better able to have them understand what I am trying to say. Finally, I can apply the skill of "appealing to my audience" to the way that I will speak to my future children. I realize that each child has his or her own way of understanding and viewing the world. With this knowledge, I can appeal to the needs of my children and teach them in a way that will be most conducive to their learning style.
