Class Reflection:
After taking this introductory folklore class, I have learned how to analyze the lore of different cultures. It's intriguing to study the differences and similarities that exist among the cultures of the world. This class helped me develop a deeper love and greater appreciation for the arts; classical and contemporary.
I decided to do my final project on the song entitled, "Danny Boy." It is also known as "Londonderry Air." I am of Irish descent and really have felt connected to this song. Having studied further and researched the history of the song, I have come to appreciate it even more. This folklore class has helped me understand the inherent beauty in a lullaby sung to a young child as he falls asleep and the value in taking time to learn about the "other."
