This introductory course of Anthropology really sparked an interest for me in the area of linguistic anthropology.  I have always been interested in languages and the use of communication as a means of conveying meaning, but had really never been able to express it.  This class inspired me to learn more about world cultures and the similarities that each holds.  I was educated about the different societies' means of esteeming social class and power. I was really intrigued about the idea of having a connection with one's ancestors, especially as found in most Asiatic cultures.  My own culture has not instructed me to esteem my predecessors as relevant in my life at all.  By taking this class in anthropology, I am laying a foundation for future work with cultures and am getting a small taste of the feast of ambrosia that cultures hold around the globe.
